Leaking when you cough or sneeze? Once you get the urge to pee do you feel like you need to go NOW? Both of these things and more can be signs and symptoms of incontinence and while these conditions are common, they are not normal and can be fixed!
There are many different types of incontinence:
✅ Stress incontinence: loss of urine with an increase in intra-abdominal pressure. For example, leaking urine with coughing, laughing, sneezing or jumping.
✅ Urge incontinence: this type of incontinence is associated with a strong and uncontrollable need to void and the inability to stop yourself from voiding.
✅ Overflow incontinence: This can occur when the bladder doesn’t empty normally and becomes full. You may also feel like the bladder never fully empties!
✅ Mixed incontinence: Often a combination of urge incontinence and stress incontinence.
Any of these types of incontinence can be really impactful on your quality of life, but they do not have to be!
